Would you like to learn more about Jewish culture and history? Do you want to see something special and different than the most famous attractions of Zagreb? Well, we have the thing you have been looking for – the Zagreb Jewish tour. In 1806 the Jews established their first 75- member community in Zagreb. In quite a short time they have built a cemetery, a school, the Synagogue and settled the Orthodox place of worship in Ruzicina street. By 1940 there were over 9000 members of Jewish community. During World War II Jews were transported to camps. Only 3000 out of the 12000 Jews in Zagreb survived the tough times of war and genocide 1945. Today the community of Zagreb is the most active and the largest in Croatia. They organize events like the annual Zagreb Jewish Film festival to promote Jewish culture.

On our tour you will see some of the most important sites related with Jewish heritage in Zagreb and its modern community. We will show you the Jewish house of worship at Praska Street where until 1941 Zagreb Synagogue has been operating. We will also take you to famous Mirogoj Cemetery which was opened in 1876 as a joint cemetery for many different religions. There is also a Jewish section in this place. We can finish our tour in front of Museum of Arts and Crafts if you want to visit Judaica collection on your own after the tour.
